After a disastrous last season it was believed that a squad overhaul may turn things around for united but this hasn’t been materialized yet. In the Face of all these problems it is imperative to tread carefully and with patience. Things are quite rotten to the core and it will time to change the culture. Fans are impatient generally and look for immediate glory but for any future glory strong foundations are required. Players and coaches are humans as well and everything cannot be corrected with a magic wand overnight. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should be blueprint for every club looking to regain lost glory. Few years back Arsenal were a banter club which had players with weak mentality. Arteta was also ridiculed in his earlier days but step by step he built his team into a formidable entity in europe. A team no one wants to face with arguably the strongest defense in Europe which continuously competes for league and regularly qualifies for champions league.
For Manchester United to improve as a team they need to continuously play at the highest level. Without UCL football players cannot improve and challenge themselves in pressure situations. It is not to say that Amorim is the man to take United forward but the club and players as a whole should progress.
Need for Consistency and Discipline
There needs to be a change in the culture at the Club. In the past players held too much power and were responsible for sacking of many managers. After all it is the players who has to play on the pitch and follow instructions of the manager. The fitness of the players should never be compromised and it is necessary to instill a culture of discipline and fitness within the team. The manager’s authority should prevail and appeasement of the players needs to be stopped. Players come and go but culture remains. Therefore it is necessary the principles on which the foundations of the club were laid should be strictly adhered to.
